Programme is aimed at: People thinking of starting their own food business or in the early stages of start-up and includes people who are hoping to progress their food hobby into a sustainable business.

Programme Objectives: On successful completion of the programme, participants should have a sound knowledge of the rudiments of food business start-up and be in a position to go about their start-up in an effective way. The programme will allow them to fully understand the legal requirements and consider the costs associated with setting p a food business. Therefore, allowin them to decide if this is the direction they wish to take.

The programme will consist of: 4 x half-days and one 1 : 1 follow-up mentor session of 2-hour duration per participant.

Brief Outline of Programme Content: Understanding the Irish food sector including artisan; how to start with a step by step guide on how to get there; minimum requirements eg food safety, labelling, insurance, costs involved; how to build your pricing model; how to manage the brand design process; deciding on your route to market, etc. Local examples and case studies where relevant will be used to bring the course to life and make it more relevant for course participants.
